Blue Marlin II under tow!

If this is true then I am holding my breath for the next mechanical failure. Yesterday I put an update post on the blog to explain the lack of progress on the boat build of the Fairey marine Huntsman I am building as a project. The delay has been due to the engine fialure of our mercury 1.7 turbo diesel mercruiser fitted to our quicksilver 630 sd Blue Marlin II. This engine failed on our last fishing trip and you can read all about it here.

So today could have been a boat building day but for the fact it was 16 degrees in the garden with brilliant sunshaine and Karen wanted the lawns cut and the patio cleaned as this was the first decent weather of spring.

Duely tasked I set about getting the mountfield lawnmower out of the garden shed,filling with petrol and starting her up. All was well for the front lawn but half way through the rear lawn she started to miss badly and black oily smoke emitted from the exhaust. I stopped her and cleaned off the spark plug and air filter and tried again but no luck. I managed to complete the back lawn just but now I have had my second mechanical failure.

I do hope the saying trouble comes in threes is only a myth as I shall be nervous everytime I take the car out in the near future.

Still once all my chores are done I hope to get back to building soon.
